First, it has to do with experience. CompuBet was developed over ten years ago by two professional horsemen with more than 50 years experience between them. Throw in all we've learned since we began publishing and distributing our ratings, and that adds up to a whole lot of experience.

Next is training. Everyone involved in the development and ongoing upgrades here at CompuBet has a professional background, either in business management, administration, or computer technology. The name CompuBet simply stands for the way in which we use computers to apply the underlying fundamentals of handicapping and statistical analysis so that you - our valued customers - can bet more successfully and get more enjoyment in the process.

The last is logic. Plain and simple, our entire process is based on solid mathematical fundamentals, applied to literally thousands of handicapping criteria including past performance data, track data, driver/trainer stats, etc. We concentrate significant resources on the development of our speed ratings. Now it is also important to understand that our ratings are generated uniquely for every race track. The importance of speed, or post, or drivers, etc., as well as many other handicapping factors, varies from track to track. We don't just paint them all with one brush! We have a table of 30+ variables used to perform calculations and apply weighting factors to such things as past performance data, the details of today's race, driver stats, etc. The calculations for each track reflect the unique circumstances and bias for that track, as dictated by those variables. We automatically update those variables using ongoing statistical studies on a track by track basis. Our regular reports are based on the best and most up to date information available...obviously from a historical standpoint. This has proven to be very effective over the years, and our users have literally cashed in on this proven methodology.

However, to bring this process to the next level and stay on the cutting edge of handicapping technology, we needed to find a way to react quicker when there is a shift in the handicapping balance. Sure, we'll catch up with it in a matter of days, or possibly a week or two, but if there is a shift, or some sort of bias on a given day, we want our users to be able to react immediately and make the minor adjustments necessary to maximize the power of CompuBet.

I offer two suggestions for your consideration. The first is to concentrate on a particular track of your choice. Download a CompuBet Pro report and set the variables several different ways, printing the report each time, so you'll have several unique reports to review after the races are run. Doing this for several days, using weighting variables you establish, will tell you which variables produce the greatest success. This method obviously requires the investment of your time, but as with any proven handicapping technique it will pay dividends.

The second method is to download a report and monitor the results of the live races in progress. As you see trends develop throughout the course of the race card, you can react to them. Maybe the weather is bad, or it's windy, or there is an influx of horses, trainers or drivers not normally part of the racing scene at a particular track. These things can have an immediate impact on the importance of speed, post, drivers, class, and form. After a couple races you can see the shift. You can see that had you emphasized this handicapping factor or that, or minimized another, you would have hit the tri, or the winner, or the exacta.
